Dax Carnay-Hanrahan

If you have come across a Tayo-Tayo Collective show, then you will know the work they produce is unapologetically raw, and speaks to those of us in society who think they have mastered the art of masking their innermost selves, but really, are continuing the dangerous narrative of “us” vs. “them”.

In the company’s productions, audiences get to witness first hand the nuances of first world aggressions toward marginalised communities in Australia, and gain a refreshing perspective to overcoming those obstacles of violence to reinvigorate our hope, our self-love and most importantly; our laughter.

Personal note: Whenever I watch Dax Carnay-Hanrahan perform, I know that I will be walking into a space led with trans joy, quick-witted language, political satire and characters who are nuanced, hot af (!) and layered. I know I am safe to be as I am, because Dax has the ability to bring us together to talk about what it is to be a participant in this world.

Her writing makes me excited about theatre in Australia again.
