“Art and Design…is the most underestimated tool in closing the gap.”

- Rachael Sarra

When I was researching Rachael Sarra, I was stumped with which quote I should use, because not only is she talented visually and graphically, linguistically she is a force to be reckoned with. BTW, I have used all quotes, because they are just. So. Good.

A proud Goreng Goreng woman, whose lineage traces back to Bundaberg in Queensland, Rachael Sarra is a Graphic Designer and Visual Artist who has taken Australia by storm with her advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander life and art, her accessibility considerations when collaborating with huge companies like Kmart Australia, and of course, her lively, feminine pieces that join the contemporary with the traditional so people from all different kinds of backgrounds can be a part of the conversation.

In her entrepreneurship, Sarra is elevating the voices of first nations people in this country, and she is doing so by being vocal in every step that she takes in her journey.

“We are adapting as people, and we are adapting as a culture: but why are our outcomes staying the same?”

IMO: It's interesting platforming people who already have a huge following, because all the advertising has been taken care of, and Working Title Prod. just serves as yet another space that in a way, Rachael has responsibility to.

It makes me wonder about burnout, because every one of these business owners platformed who are first nations people and immigrants: work. so. f*cking. hard. And it doesn't seem to be ceasing any time soon.

Dear Rachael, I hope you get to have a break soon to connect with what makes you, you. Thank you for everything you do for your community and for the rest of Aus, and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to highlight the work you do on the Working Title Prod. website.
